Patna : Spain and Serbia reached the final of 24-Nation inaugural ATP Cup comfortably winning their respective semi-finals matches at Sydney, Australia, on January 11, 2020. Spain defeated Australia 3-0 while Serbia beat Russia 3-0 in the semi-finals. The two teams will face off in the final on January 12, 2020.
In the Span vs Australia tie, World No 1 Rafael Nadal, 33, beat World No 18 Alex de Minaur, 20, in second singles in three-sets 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 battling back from one set down. Djokovic won 5 break points in the match to 3 by the Russian. Medvedev though fired 6 Aces in the match to 4 by the Serbian. Both the players committed 5 double faults each. Djokovic also won 6 games in a row in the match to 4 by Medvedev. The Serbian won 69 service points to 60 by the Russian.
World No 34 Dusan Lajovic, 29, Serbia, World No 17 Karen Khachanov, 23, Russia, in first singles in straight sets 7-5, 7-6. Khachanov though fired 9 Aces in the match to just 1 by Lajovic. The Serbian also won a break point besides wining 3 games in a row. Khachanov committed 3 double faults to 1 by Lajovic.
The pair of Nikola Cacic & Viktor Troicki, Serbia, beat Teymuraz Gabashvili & Konstantin Kravcuk, Russia, 6-4, 7-6 to win the doubles.
