Patna : South Africa beat India by 135 runs in the second test at SuperSport Park, Centurion, South Africa, on January 17, 2018, to take an unbetable 2-0 lead in the three-match test series. Resuming at their overnight score of 35/3 with Cheteswar Pujara batting on 11 and wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel batting on 5, India were all out for  151 in 50.2 overs.

Rohit Sharma was the top scorer with 47 runs in 74 balls hitting 6 fours and a six while fast bowler Mohammad Shami made 28 in 24 balls hitting 5 fours. Sharma and Shami were involved in a 54 run partnersip for 8th wicket, the only fifty run partnership in the innings. Pujara was run out for 19. He was also run out for duck in the first innings. Parthiv Patel made 19. Patel had also made 19 in the first innings. Hardik Pandya made 6 while R Ashwin made 3.

For South Africa, Lungisani Ngidi took 6/39 in 12.2 overs while Kagiso Rabada took 3/47 in 14 overs.
