Patna : South Africa (SA) were 74/4 in 27 overs at lunch in their second innings on Day 4 in the 2nd test against India at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on October 13, 2019, with spinner Ravichandra Ashwin taking the wickets of opener Dean Elgar and captain Faf du Plessis minutes before the lunch break. Quinton de Kock (wk) was unbeaten 1 while Temba Bavuma was batting on 2.

South Africa trail by 252 runs. They were all out for 275 in their first innings. India had declared their first innings at 601/5. India have taken a stranglehold of the Pune test.

South Africa lost four wickets that of Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram, Theunis de Bruyn, and Faf du Plessis in the first session of the play on Day 4.  Elgar fell to  Ashwin for 48 in 72 balls with 8 fours. Ashwin has taken Elgar’s wicket for the 6th time in tests. Du Plessis fell to Ashwin for 5 in 54 balls. Ashwin has taken Du Plessis’ wicket for the third time in the series. Aiden Markram got a pair in the match getting out without scoring in both the innings of the test. Bruyn fell to Umesh Yadav for 8.

Ashwin has taken 2/8 in 8 overs. Ishant Sharma has taken 1/17 while Umesh Yadav has taken 1/14.
