Patna : South Africa (SA) were 64/2 after 20 overs in their second innings in 2nd test on Day 4 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, after India enforced follow on October 13, 2019, with opener Dean Elgar batting on 42 with 8 fours and captain Faf du Plessis unbeaten on 5. SA are staring at a massive defeat as India have taken stranglehold of the test.

South Africa lost the wickets of opener Aiden Markram and Theunis de Bruyn in the first hour of play. Aiden Markram fell to fast bowler Ishant Sharma for zero getting a pair in the match. Bruyn fell to Umesh Yadav for 8. South Africa trail by 267 runs.

India had declared their first innings at 601/5. In reply, SA were all out for 275 in their first innings with spinner Keshav Maharaj (72) being the highest scorer for them while captain Faf du Plessis scored 64.
