Patna : World No 44 Sourabh Verma, 26, India, has advanced to the semi-finals of IDBI FederalLife Insurance Hyderabad Open, a BWF Tour Super 100 event at Gachibowli, Hyderabad, defeating compatriot and World No 69 Ajay Jayaram in the quarter-finals. Subhankar Dey, India, lost in the QFs.

Sourabh beat Jayaram 21-18, 21-9 in 36 minutes at Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, on August 9, 2019. Sourabh won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Jayaram. Both the players won 7 consecutive points each in the match. Jayaram still leads Sourabh 2-1 Head to Head. Sourabh’s younger brother and top seed Sameer Verma had lost in the 2nd round of the event. Sourabh will face World No 84 Iskandar Zulkarnain, Malaysia,  in the semi-finals on August 10, 2019.
