Sourabh enters SFs of Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open

Patna : Second seed and World No 38 Sourabh Verma, 26, India, entered the semi-finals of Yonex-Sunrise Vietnam Open at Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam, on September 13, 2019. Sourabh beat World No 62 Tien Minh Nguyen, Vietnam, in straight games 21-13, 21-18 in 43 minutes in quarter-finals on September 13.

Sourabh won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Nguyen. Both the players won 4 consecutive points each in the match. Nguyen, however, still leads Sourabh 2-1 Head to Head. Sourabh had defeated World No 71 Yu Igarashi, Japan, 25-23, 24-22 to enter the quarter-finals on September 12, 2019.

But, World No 185 Siril Verma, 19, India, lost to World N0 228 Lei Lan Xi, 21, China, 12-21, 15-21 in 32 minutes on September 12, 2019. Siril had upset top seed and World No 35 Liew Daren in 2nd round on September 12 morning. Xi lost in the QFs on September 13 in a three-game thriller.
