Patna : World No 36 Sourabh Verma, 26, entered the quarter-finals of Ecogreen Syed Modi International Badminton Championships, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 event, at Lucknow, UP, India, defeating World No 163 Alap Mishra, 19, a qualifier, in second round at Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium, Lucknow, on November 28, 2019.

Sourabh beat Alap Mishra in straight games 21-11, 21-18 in 28 minutes in 2nd round. Sourabh won 42 rallies in the match to 29 by Alap. He won 5 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Alap, who hails from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. It was first meeting between the two players. It was a fast paced match and Sourabh won the first game in just 13 minutes. Alap put up a better fight in the second game though.
