Sitamarhi: The fast unto death by Vivek Kumar, a social worker and resident of village Kachor under Sonbarsa police
station in Sitamarhi district, entered its third day on Wednesday. He has been sitting on fast since September 5 before the Syndicate Bank, Kachor branch, functioning from village Bhutahi, a distance of 3 km.

The bank has been working from village Bhutahi on temporary basis for the last fifteen years. The kachor villagers have been agitating for the shifting the bank branch back o Kachor for the past three years. Senior officials of the bank that the have been assuring the villagers that branch would be shifted back to village Kachor village but to no avail so far. Before it was shifted to Bhutahi 15 years back, the bank branch was located at village Kachor. It was temporarily shifted to village Bhutahi on NH 77 because of flood.
A team of doctors along with SHO, Sonbarsa police station, Phul Dev Chaudhary on Wednesday visited the place where Vivek Kumar has been sitting on fast. Syndicate bank branch manager Avinash Kumar said,” We have informed the higher officials and their response is awaited.” The bank did not function on Wednesday.
