Slain former Muzaffarpur Mayor Sameer Kumar’s kin demand CBI probe into his murder

Muzaffarpur : The family members of slain former Muzaffarpur Mayor Sameer Kumar observed day long fast on Muzaffarpur Collectorate campus on January 18, 2019, to press their demand for CBI probe into his murder. Expressing their dissatisfaction over the police investigation into the murder of former Mayor Sameer Kumar, they alleged that police were yet to any high profile person involved in the murder. Those observing fast included Varsha Rani, widow of Sameer Kumar, and his son.

But, Muzaffarpur SSP Manoj Kumar said that the relatives of former Mayor Sameer Kumar were yet to give any statement in writing or submit any evidence against any person in connection with his murder. The SSP said that so far 7 accused had been arrested in the case while the SIT investigation was still on.

It may be mentioned here that former Muzaffarpur Mayor Sameer Kumar and his driver were shot dead by criminals near Banaras Bank roundabout on September 23, 2018, evening, at Muzaffarpur. The criminals had used AK 47 to kill them when they were returning home in a car.
