Ara : The mortal remains of CRPF constable Abhay Mishra was consigned to flame on April 26, 2017, at his native village Tulasi under Jagdishpur police station in Bhojpur district with full state honour. Bhojpur DM Birendra Prasad Yadav, SP Kshatranil Singh and other officials of the district were also present on the occasion. His two year old son Ayush Mishra performed the last rites of his father.

Gajendra Mishra, a farmer, and Madhuri Mishra had two sons: Abhay Mishra and Amit Mishra. Abhay Mishra joined the CRPF in 2012 and was posted in Chhattisgarh.  He tied the knot with his beloved Rani Mishra of Katihar three years ago and had a two year old son. Amit Mishra is a BA part I student at S B College, Ara. Gajendra Mishra and Madhuri Mishra, however, showed ignorance about the marriage of Abhay Mishra with Rani Mishra and said his marriage was settled with a girl of Masarh. Amit Mishra said that his brother had come to village on “Makarsankranti’  and had assured to return again but his body came.

Abhay Mishra was killed in a naxal attack along with other 25 CRPF personnel while on duty for securing road construction work in Burkapal area of Sukma in Chhattisgarh on April 24, 2017. The body of the slain CRPF personnel reached his native village on April 25 evening. His mother Madhuri Devi and wife Rani Mishra were lying on the floor of their house unconscious. Everyone demanded of the Government of India to take stern action against the naxalites.

Gajendra Mishra expressed his anger over the government’s dilly dallying attitude in dealing with the naxals. Cries of Abhay Mishra’s wife, Rani Mishra, to whom he had talked a day before his death and his mother who lived at Tulasi village rent the air. Rani Mishra said that the government should take revenge of this cowardice act of naxalites. The villagers spewed venom against the government alleging it was patronizing the naxalites to divert people’s attention from its failure.

Rani Mishra first refused to accept a cheque of Rs 5 lakh from the government and said that his husband was not a beggar. After much persuasion from the officials, army officers, Rani Mishra accepted the cheque. Gajendra Mishra demanded a memorial in the name of Abhay Mishra but the government officials did not allow him to even perform last rites of his martyr son on the government land saying action would be taken if they dared do so.
