Patna : Sri Lanka (SL) scored a modest 154/6 in 20 overs against Australia in a Group 1 match of ICC T20 World Cup at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, UAE, on October 28, 2021, night, as Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored an unbeaten 33 in 26 balls hitting 4 fours and 1 six while opener Kusal Perera (wk) and Charith Asalanka scored 35 runs each. Australia had won the toss and opted to bowl. Fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins and leg spinner Adam Zampa took two wickets each.

Batting first, SL lost their first wicket that of opener Pathum Nissanka with only 15 runs on board. Nissanka fell to Patna Cummins for 7.  Kusal Perera and Asalanka added 63 runs for the 2nd wicket. But, both fell in quick succession. Asalanka fell to Adam Zampa for 35 in 27 balls with 4 fours and 1 six making it 78/2. Kusal Perera fell to Mitchell Starc for 35 in 25 balls hitting 4 fours and 1 six making it 86/3. Avishka Fernando fell to Zampa for 4 and it was .90/4. Wanindu Hasaranga fell to Starc for 4 and it was 94/5.

Caprain Dasun Saka fell to fast bowler Pat Cummins for 12 with 1 four making it 134/6. Bhanuka hit medium fast bowler Marcus Stoinis for 2 fours and 1 six on successive balls in 17th bowler.
