Patna : Sri Lanka (SL) were 212/7 in 60.1 overs in their 2nd innings in the 2nd test against Pakistan at stumps on Day 4 on December 22, 2019, at National Stadium, Karachi, Pakistan, still needing 264 runs to win this match with just 3 wickets in hand. Opener Oshada Fernando was unbeaten on 102 in 175 balls with 13 fours and Dilruwan Perera, who had scored 48 in the first innings, was batting on 5 at stumps on Day 4.

Niroshan Dickwella (wk), who had scored 21 in first innings, scored 65 in 76 balls with 11 foursĀ  in the second innings. Captain and opener Dimuth Karunaratne fell to fast bowler Mohammad Abbas for 16. Dhananjaya de Silva, who had scored 32 in the first innings, fell to spinner Yasir Shah for a duck. Angelo Matthews fell to fast bowler Shaheen Afridi for 19 while Dinesh Chandimal, wo had scored 74 runs in the first innings, fell to fast bowler Naseeh Shah for 2 in the second. Naseem Shah had earlier accounted for Kusal Mendis (0). Naseem took 3/31 in 11.1 overs.

Pakistan had scored 191 in their first innings and declared their 2nd innings at 555/3 with four batsmen : Shan Masood, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, and Babar Azam ( not out), scorings centuries. SL had scored 271 in their first innings.
