Patna: Nine persons on July 17, 2020, came forward to donate their Blood Plasma to save the lives of COVID-19 patients on the first day of Plasma donation operation started at initiative of Divisional Commissioner, Patna,  Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.
It may be mentioned here that Agarwal had recently appealed to the people to donate plasma and announced that the donors would be given citation letter and one unit blood for their family members within a year.
Those who came forward to donate plasma on July 17, 2020, hail from Nalanda, Khagaria, Buxar, and Begusarai. Agarwal said that on Day 1, nine Corona warriors came forward to donate plasma. He said that three of them were not found to be fit on parameters of test due to which only six people donated their plasma.
The Divisional Commissioner said that the six people who donated their plasma included Khagaria Sadar Hospital’s Dr Shashikant, Nitesh from Begusarai, Luv Kumar of Buxar, and Pradeep and Santosh from Nalanda. They were jubilant safter donating their plasma and said that it was as matter of great pleasure  for them that their small initiative can save someone’s life. Thank You cards and blood donor cards was handed over to the Corona Warriors by AIIMS Patna administration.

The Divisional Commissioner informed that in next five days, 20 donors are likely to donate their blood plasma. Agarwal directed all DMs of Patna Division to set up Special Plasma Donor Cells under their respective jurisdiction. Roaster of all districts will be determined, based on which District Officer will send plasma donor to AIIMS, Patna, and special arrangements will be made for their
plasma donation there.
