Six criminals loot Rs 2.53 lakh from Lalu-Chhapra Branch of SBI in Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur :  Six  motorcycle borne criminals looted Rs  2.53 lakh cash at gun point from  Lalu-Chhapra branch of State Bank of India (SBI) under Paru police station under Saraiya Sub-division in Muzaffarpur District in North Bihar on March 17, 2020. The criminals looted cash after making Branch Manager and Cashier of the bank hostage and fled away.Their operation lasted about 25 minutes. According to police records, four incidents involving loot of  Rs 34 lakh cash had taken place in Muzaffarpur during last four days but police are yet to arrest any criminal in connection with these incidents.

City SP, Muzaffarpur,  Niraj Kumar Singh, SDPO , Saraiya,  Rajesh Kumar Sharma,  along with SHO of Paru PS  reached the SBI branch  to make an on the spot inquiry and collected information from the bank employees. Branch Manager Mukesh Kumar Verma said that  around six  criminals entered the bank  brandishing pistols, made him hostage, and looted cash. “We informed police. At the time of loot around 50 customers were present in the Bank,” Verma said.

According to police sources, in last four days 4 cases of loot were registered  by police. The criminals had looted Rs 5.31 lakh from a courier company in Bhikhanpura in Muzaffarpur, Rs 14 lakh cash was looted by criminals from Bank of India at Motipur, and Rs 15.50 lakh from a private finance company at Saraiya.
