Ara : Three bike borne miscreants shot dead a greengrocer near Akhgao village under Chandi police station in Bhojpur District in the wee hour on August 16, 2020, when he was returning to Siwan from Rohtas district.
Police brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The deceased was identified as Butan Kumar alias Indrajeet Kumar, 22, son of Surendra Prasad of Kishunpura village in Siwan District. An FIR has been lodged with Chandi police station in this connection on the statement of a Pick-up driver who accompanied the deceased. Police are investigating the matter.
SHO, Chandi Police station, Manoj Kumar said that Butan Kumar alias Indrajeet Kumar of Siwan district and a green grocer, frequently visited Rohtas for purchasing green vegetables. He had gone to Kachchhawa Bazaar under Kachchhawa police station in Rohtas district on August 15, 2020. After loading green vegetables on a Pick-up van, he was returning to his native village. When he reached near Akhgao village under Chandi police station in Bhojpur district in the wee hour on August 16, 2020, three bike borneĀ armed miscreants intercepted him and demanded rangdari (extortion amount) and when he refused, they thrashed himĀ and then shot at and injured him and escaped from the scene.
Police rushed Butan Kumar alias Indrajeet Kumar to Ara Sadar Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital.
