Sitamarhi : Sitamarhi DM Ranjeet Kumar Singh while addressing the 47th foundation day function of Sitamarhi District on December 11, 2018, at Dumra Ground here urged the people to say no to child marriage and dowry. He said that increase in literacy rate will lead to progress of the society. The social evils will vanish with the increase in literacy, DM Singh. He highlighted the ODF feat of the district and said that it was possible only with the cooperation of the people. The programme was collectively inaugurated by the DM and elected representatives.
Several government departments, NGOs, private companies, and banks had set up more than hundred stalls at Dumra GroundĀ  on the occasion. The foundation day celebrations will continue till December 12, 2018. Earlier in the day, a Vikas marathon was organised under the leadership of DMĀ  Singh from Sita Kunj Park to Dumra.
MLAs Ranju Geeta and Gayatri Devi, MLCs Dr Ram Chandra Purvey and Ram Ishwar Prasad, Sitamarhi SP Vikas Burman, District Board Chairperson Uma Devi, Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Prabhat Kumar, SDO Sadar M K Gupta, SDPO K V Dhirendra, DPRO Parimal Kumar and PP Arun Kumar were prominent among those addressing the function. RLSP MP from Sitamarhi Ram Kumar Sharma said that he was trying his best to restore the old course of river Lakhandei.
