Sitamarhi : Sitamarhi District in North Bihar celebrated its 50th Foundation Day with gaiety and furvour everywhere in urban and rural areas. Several quality programmes were organised on the occasion to highlight the achievementsof the district in last five decades. The main programmes were held at Dumra Stadium ground.
Sitamarhi DM Sunil Kumar Yadav and SP Har Kishore Rai led a cycle rally amidst much fanfare. Prabhat Pheri, Rangoli, cake cutting, plantation programmes were held on the occasion. The officials and the local people took pledge against liquor on the day while laying emphasis on prohibition. The Kamla Balika school students with school band party took out a procession in Sitamarhi town against liquor use and its aftermath. Prizes were distributed to successful persons in different fields on the day.
DM Sunil Kumar Yadav highlighted several on going developmental projects. He said that Sitamarhi was carved out from the erstwhile Muzaffarpur District.
