New Delhi : Minister for Communications Manoj Sinha on June 15, 2017, stressed on shifting from ‘Information Societies’ to ‘knowledge societies’ to ensure that information is not only created and disseminated but also put to the service of mankind.

Speaking at the World Summit on Information Society, WSIS Forum-2017 at Geneva, Sinha  particularly drew attention of the Ministers across the world towards the unfinished work of Tunis Agenda in this regard. In order to implement this ambitious agenda, he called for establishing ‘solidarity fund’ and ‘technology facilitation mechanism’, according to a PIB release. Sinha urged developing countries, particularly Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Land Locked Developing Countries (LLDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to use the advantages of ICT in their governance.

He also called for ensuring central role of governments in managing internet security and urgent need for developing ‘common minimum agreement’ for cyber security issues, according to PIB release.
