Patna : World No 5 P V Sindhu, India, entered the quarter-finals of Blibli Indonesia Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 tournament, at Jakarta, Indonesia, on July 18, 2019, but World No 9 Kidambi Srikanth, India, lost in the men’s singles second round.

Sindhu, the 5th seed, beat World No 13 Mia Blichfeldt, Denmark, in a three-game thriller 21-14, 17-21, 21-11 in 62 minutes in the second round to advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament. Sindhu won 59 rallies in the match to 46 by Mia. She won  8 co nsecutive points in the match to 3 by Mia. Sindhu now leads Mia 3-0 Head to Head. World No 4 Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, beat World No 32 Cheung Ngan Yi, Hong Kong, 21-19, 21-15 to enter the QFs.

Srikanth, the 8th seed, lost to World No 13 NG Ka Long Angus, Hong Kong, 17-21, 19-21 in 39 minutes in the men’s singles 2nd  round continuing his poor form. NG won 42 rallies in the match to 36 by Srikanth. The two players are now locked 2-2 Head to Head.

World No 11 Anders Antonsen, Denmark, also entered the men’s singles QFs after his second round opponent and World No 2 Shi Yu Qi, China, the 2nd seed, retired in the first game after 12 minutes due to injury trailing 6-7.

World No 18 Kantaphon Wangcharoen, Thailand, beat 7th seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Indonesia, 22-20, 11-21, 21-19 in 84 minutes in 2nd round to advance to the QFs. Sixth seed Jonatan Christie, Indonesia, beat World No 26 Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus, Denmark, 22-20, 21-13 in 42 minutes in 2nd round to reach QFs.
