Sindhu suffers first round defeat in Denmark Open, Saina shocks Marin

Patna : World Number 10 Badminton player Chen Yufei of China shocked the Olympic and World Champimship silver medallist P V Sindhu in the first round of Denmark Open. Yufei defeated World Number 2 Sindhu in straight games 21-17, 23-21. Sindhu had lost in the second round of Japan Open in September 2017.

But, World Number 12 Saina Nehwal defeated Olympic Champion Carolina Marin, Spain, in straight sets 22-20, 21-18 in another first round match to register fifth victory over the Spainiard in nine meetings. In the men’s singles, Kidambi Srikanth and H S Pranoy won their respective first round matches.
