Patna : World No 6 P V Sindhu, 23, India, scored her third consecutive victory in the round robin stage in Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Finals at Guangzhou, China, bDecember 13, 2018. beating Beiwen Zhang, 28, USA, in straight games on December 14, 2018.

Sindhu beat Zhang 21-9, 21-15 in 35 minutes at Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou, China. Sindhu won 42 rallies in the match to 24 by Zhang. She also won 9 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Zhang. Sindhu now leads Zhang 4-3 head to head. Sindhu had defeated World No 2 Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, on December 12 and World No 1 Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Taiwan, on December 13.

In the men’s section, World No 14 Sameer Verma, 24, India, won his second match in the round robin stage beating World No 17 Kantaphon Wangcharoen, 20, Thailand, in straight games. Sameer defeated Wangcharoen 21-9, 21-18 in 45 minutes. Sameer won 42 rallies in the match to 27 by Wangcharoen. Both the players won 5 consecutive points in the match. Sameer now leads Wangcharoen 2-1 head to head.

World No 6 Son Wan Ho, South Korea, beat World No 7 Anthony Sinisuka Jinting, 22, Indonesia, 21-11, 21-10 in 37 minutes to win his second match in the round robin stage. He had defeated World No 3 Chou Tien Chen, 28, Taiwan, on December 13, 2018.
