Sindhu reaches Dubai Super Series Finals, to face Yamaguchi

Patna : World Number 3 Badminton player P V Sindhu, 22, India, stormed into the final of  women’s section of  Dubai Super Series Finals defeating World Number 8 Chen Yufei, China, 21- 15, 21- 18, in a tough contest at Sheikh Hamdan Indoor Stadium, Dubai, on December 16, 2017, night.

Sindhu will face World Number 2 Akana Yamaguchi, Japan, who defeated World Number 6 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, in tough encounter 17-21, 21-12, 21-19 in another semi-finals on December 16 night.

Sindhu had defeated Akane Yamaguchi in her third group stage match on December 15, 2017, 21-9, 21-13. Sindhu has a 5-2 head to head record against Yamaguchi. World Number 1 Tai Tzu Ying failed to reach the semi-finals.

In the Men’s section World Number 1 Viktor Axelsen, Denmark, reached the finals thrashing  World Number 8 Shi Yuqi, China, in straight sets  21-12, 21-8, in the semi-finals.
