Patna : World No 6 P V Sindhu, 23, India, and World No 5 Nozomi Okuhara, 23, Japan, entered the final of Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Finals 2018 Guangzhou, China, on December 15, 2018.
Olympic silver medallist Sindhu beat World No 8 and 2013 World Champion Ratchanok Intanon, 23, Thailand, in straight games 21-16, 25-23 in 54 minutes in the semi-finals at Tianhe Gymnasium, Guangzhou, China, on December 15 to enter the final of BWF World Tour Finals. Sindhu won 46 rallies in the match to 39 by Intanon. Both the players won 4 consecutive points each in the match. Both the players are now locked 4-4 head to head.
Nozomi Okuhara, the 2017 World Champion, beat World No 2 Akane Yamaguchi, 21 Japan, 21-17, 21-14 in 46 minutes in the semi-finals. Okuhara won 42 rallies in the match to 31 by Yamaguchi. Okuhara won 7 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Yamaguchi. Okuhara now leads Yamaguchi 11-4 head to head.
