Patna : Reigning World Champion and World No 6 P V Sindhu, 24, India, and reigning Olympic Champion and World No 23 Carolina Marin, 26, Spain, and World No 4 Nozomi Okuhara, 24, Japan, entered the second round of Danisa Denmark Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour event, at Odense, Denmark, on October 15, 2019.

Sindhu, who had made early exit on in both China Open and Korea Open, beat World No 16 Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, 20, Indonesia, in straight games though in a tough contest 22-20, 21-18 in 38 minutes at Odense Sportspark, Denmark. Sindhu won 43 rallies in the match to 38 by Tunjung. She won 6 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the Indonesian.  Sindhu now leads Tunjung 6-0 Head to Head.

Marin, a three-time former World Champion, beat World No 15 Pornpawee Chochuwong, 21, Thailand, 21-16, 21-19 in 40 minutes to enter the 2nd round.Marin won 42 rallies in the match to 35 by Chochuwong. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. Marin now leads Chochuwong 4-0 Head to Head.

Third Seed and 2017 World Champion Nozomi Okuhara beat World No 17 Busanan Ongbamrungphan, 23, Thailand, in a three-game thriller 18-21, 21-9, 21-16 in 63 minutes in first round battling back from one game down. Okuhara won 60 rallies in the match t0 46 by Busanan. She won 13 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Busanan. Okuhara now leads Busanan 5-2 Head to Head.

World No 10 Sung Ji Hyun, South Korea, upset World No 7 He Bing Jiao, 22, China, in a tough contest 25-23, 21-18 in 52 minutes in first round. Sung won 46 rallies in the match to 41 by the Chinese. The two players are now locked 5-5 Head to Head.
