Patna : World Champion P V Sindhu, India, Olympic Champion Carolina Marin, Spain, World No 5 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, entered the women’s singles second round at Yonex French Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event, at Paris, France, on October 22, 2019.

World No 6 Sindhu beat World No 8 Michelle Li, Canada, 21-15, 21-13 in 44 minutes in first round. Sindhu, who had made early exit in China Open, Korea Open, and Denmark Open, in last few weeks, won 42 rallies in the match to 28 by Li. She won 7 consecutive points in the match to 4 by the Canadian. Sindhu now leads Li 6-2 Head to Head.

World No 17 Carolina Marin beat World No 19 Cai Yan Yan, 19, China, 21-8, 22-24, 21-15 in 62 minutes in first round. Marin won 64 rallies in the match to 47 by Yan Yan. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. Marin now leads Yan Yan 2-0 Head to Head.

Intanon beat World N0 28 Kirsty Gilmour, 26, Scotland, in three-games 19-21, 21-17, 21-9 in 56 minutes to enter the second round coming from behind. Intanon won 61 rallies in the match to 47 by Gilmour. Intanon won 9 consecutive points in the match to 5 by Gilmour. Intanon now leads Gilmour 5-1 Head to Head.
