Patna : Top seed P V Sindhu, 26; Malvika Bansod, 20; Aakarshi Kashyap, 20; and Ashmita Chaliha 22, all from India, reached the quarter-finals of Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2022, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament at K D Jadhav Indoor Hall, New Delhi, India, on January 13, 2022.

Sindhi, a two-time Olympic medallit, thumped World No 110 Ira Sharma, 22, India, in straight games 21-10, 21-10 in only 30 minutes in Round of 16. Sindhu won 42 points in the match to 20 points by Ira. Sindhu also won 10 consecutive points during the match to 4 by Ira.

Malvika Bansod,India, stunned compatriot & 4th seed Saina Nehwal, 31, in straight games 21-17, 21-9 in 34 minutes in a massive upset in the tournament.Malvika won 42 points during the match to 26 points by Saina, a former World No 1. Both the players won 6 consecutive poiunts each during the match.

Aakarshi Kashyap, India, brushed aside Keyura Mopati, 19, in straight games 21-10, 21-10 in just 23 minutes in Round of 16. Aakarshi won 42 points during the match to 20 points by Mopati. She won 8 consecutive points during the match to 2 by Mopati.

Ashmita Chaliha beat World No 71 Yaelle Hoyaux France, in straight games 21-17, 21-14 in 30 minutes in Round of 16.Ashmita won 42 points in gthe match to 31 by Yaelle. She also won 9 consecutive points during the match to 4 by Yaelle
