Patna : Reigning World Champion & 6th seed P V Sindhu, 24, India, lost to 2017 World Champion & 4th seed Nozomi Okuhara, 25, Japan, in quarter-finals of Yonex All England Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 Badminton tournament, at Birmingham, England, on March 13, 2020.

World No 4 Nozomi Okuhara beat World No 6 P V Sindhu in a three-game thriller 12-21, 21-15, 21-13 in 68 minutes to enter the SFs of the event battling back from one game down. Sindhu easily won the first game but thereafter Okuhara was all over her in next two games. Okuhara won 54 rallies in the match to 49 by Sindhu. Both the players won 4 consecutive points each in the match. Sindhu, however, still leads Okuhara 9-8 Head to Head.

Top seed & World No 1 Chen Yu F, 22, China, also entered the SFs of the tournament beating 5th seed Ratchanok Intanon, 25, Thailand, the 2013 World Champion, in three-games 17-21, 21-15, 21-17 in 69 minutes in QFs rallying back from one game down. Defending champion Chen Yu Fei won 59 rallies in the match to 53 by World No 5 Intanon. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each. Chen Yu Fei now leads Intanon 12-2 Head to Head.
