Patna : Third seed P V Sindhu, 26, India, reached the semi-finals of SimInvest Indonesia Open 2021, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 badminton tournament at Bali, Indonesia, defeating World No 52 Sim Yu-Jin, 22, South Korea, in a three-game marathon in quarter-finals on November 26, 2021. Sindhu will face 2nd seed Ratchanok Intanon, 26, Thailand, in semi-final on November 27, 2021.
Two-time Olympics Medallist & 2019 World Champion Sindhu beat Sim Yu-Jin 14-21, 21-19, 21-14 in 66 minutes in quarter-final rallying back from one game down. Sindhu won 56 points during the match to 54 points by Yu-Jin. She also won 9 consecutive points during the match to 7 by the South Korean.
Ratchanok Intanon, the 2013 World Champion, beat World No 78 Asuka Takahashi, 22, Japan, in straight games 21-17, 21-12 in 39 minutes in quarte-final on November 26, 2021. Intanon won 42 points during the match to 29 points by Takahashi.
