Patna : Sixth seed P V Sindhu, 25, India, beat Busanan Ongbamrungphan, 24, Thailand, in straight games to sail into the 2nd round of Toyota Thailand Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 1,000 Badminton toyrnament, at Bangkok, Thailand, on January 19, 2021. Sindhu, the 2019 World Champion, beat Busanan 21-17, 21-13 in 43 minutes in first round.

Sindhu, who had lost in the 1st round of Yonex Thailand Open last week, won 42 rallies in the match to 30 by Busanan. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. Sindhu now leads Busanan 11-1 Head to Head.

But, World N0 20 Saina Nehwal, 30, India, lost to 4th seed Ratchanok Intanon, 25, Thailand, in straight games in first round.  Intanon, the 2013 World Champion, beat Saina 21-17, 21-8 in 32 minutes to enter the 2nd round. Intanon won 42 rallies in the match to 25 by Saina. She won 5 consecutive points during the match to 4 by Saina. Saina, however, leads Intanon 11-6 Head to Head.
