Patna : World No 6 P V Sindhu, India, World No 7 HE Bingjiao, China, World No 8 Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, and World No 13 Han Yue, China, advanced to the women’s singles semi-finals of Yonex-Sunrise India Open 2019, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 500 level tournament, at K D Jadhav Indoor Hall, New India, India, on March 29, 2019.

Sindhu, the 2nd seed, defeated World No 22 Mia Blichfeldt, Denmark, the 8th seed, in a tough contest 21-19, 22-20 in 44 minutes in the quarter-finals to advance to the SFs of the tournament. Sindhu won 43 rallies in the match to 39 by Blichfeldt. Sindhu won 4 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Blichfeldt. Sindho now leads Blichfeldt 1-0 head to head.

Sindhu will face HE Bingjiao, the 3rd seed, in the semi-finals on March 30, 2019. Bingjiao advanced to SFs after defeating World No 12 Beiwen Zhang, USA, 21-18, 26-24 in 47 minutes in the QFs on March 29, 2019.

Two-time former champion Intanon beat World No 26 Busnan Ongbamrungphan, 23, Thailand, 21-18, 21-19 in 44 minutes in the QFs. She will face Han Yue, 19, China, in the SFs on March 30, 2019. Han Yue advanced to the SFs after defeating World No 28 Cheung Ngan Yi, 25, Hong Kong, 22-20, 21-14 in 42 minutes in the quarter-finals.
