Simona Halep enters AO final, to play Wozniacki

Patna : World Number 1 Simona Halep, 26, Romania, defeated Number 21 seed and 2016 champion Angelique Kerber, Germany, 30, in fiercely contested three set thriller 6-3, 4-6, 9-7 in the semi-finals on January 25, 2018, to enter the final of Australian Open (AO) 2018.

Both the players particularly Kerber were exhausted by the time the slugfest ended. After all, both the players had fought for every point. Both of them had played their repective quarterfinal matches on January 24, 2018, and virtually had no rest. Kerber, a formr World Number 1, is 2016 US Open winner.

A resident of Constana, Romania, and winner of WTA titles, Halep will play World Number 2 Caroline Wozniacki in the final. Wozniacki defeated Elise Mertens, 22, Belgium, in the other semi-final 6-3, 7-6, on January 25 to enter the final.
