Ara : On the recommendation of Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar, Police Headquarters on April 1, 2020, dismissed an SI Ajit Kumar Singh for his alleged links with liquor smugglers. The arrested SI is at present lodged in Ara jail. Ajit Kumar Singh hails from Munger district in Bihar and was in the cross mobile for the last eight months in Bhojpur.
Ajit Kumar Singh was posted as cross mobile under Nawada police station, Ara. A video of chat between him and liquor smugglers was made viral on the social media and the video somehow reached Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey,who took it seriously and directed Bhojpur SP to take stern action against him after inquiry.
Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar directed the cyber cell and SHO Nawada police station to inquire into the matter. After getting some technical evidence against Ajit Kumar Singh, police, on the direction of Bhojpur SP, arrested him from his residence at New Policeline and also seized from his possession Rs 90,000 cash, which he had allegedly collected from liquor smugglers for favouring them on March 29, 2020. On his revelation, police arrested a liquor smuggler Sonu Chaudhary alias Sunny Chaudhary from village Bakari under Udwantnagar police station and seized his mobile.
SHO, Nawada police station, Sunil Kumar, said that Ajit Kumar Singh, during interrogation named several liquor smugglers including Saroj Prasad of Jhopad Patti Anaith under Nawada police station in Bhojpur district. A named FIR has been lodged by Nawada police against Ajit Kumar Singh, Sunny Chaudhary and Saroj Prasad. police are conducting raids to arrest Saroj Prasad. The SHO said that SI Ajit Kumar Singh was arrested on the basis of call recording.
Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said that stern action would be taken against those found involved in liquor smuggling or running of guessing centres. He added that some police personnel are also on radar and round the clock vigil is being kept on their activities.
