Patna : In a fierce encounter between police and a gang of dacoits at around 2:30 am on MGM Road, Kishanganj, at around 2:30 am on September 12, 2018, one police Sub-Inspector (SI) Biswa Oraon and a dacoit were killed.

Dacoits numbering around 15 attacked the business premises of Jute dealer Nandu Kumar Agrawal, after which his staff started shouting for help. The dacoits also stabbed the security guard of business premises injuring him seriously. A police patrol team which was passing through the area heard their cry and reached the spot. But the dacoits started firing indiscriminately killing SI Biswa Oraon.

Soon a police team led by SDPO Kishanganj, Dr Akhilesh Kumar, and comprising SHO Kishanganj Town police station, Aftab Alam, reached there and returned the fire in which one of the dacoits was killed and 4 others were injured and were arrested. Three  of the injured dacoits were from West Bengal and one from Purnia, Bihar. The remaining dacoits managed to escape taking advantage of the darkness. Purniaa SP also reached Kishanganj as the Kishanganj SP is on training.

Police also seized a desi katta, a countrymade bomb, a knife, and an iron rod from the spot, said he SDPO.
