Patna : Twelve cops posted in Bypass and Agamkuan Police station in Patna district were suspended on June 25, 2018, by Zonal IG, Patna, N H Khan, in connection with arrest of a minor vegetable vendor Pankaj on March 19 this year after his refusal to give vegeables for free to some policemen. Pankaj was allegedly framed in a bike loot case.

The suspended police personnel include SHO of Agamkuan police station Kamakhya Narayan Singh and SHO of Bypass police station Rajendra Prasad besides acting SHO of Agamkuan Munna Kumar Verma. All the police personnel posted at Agamkuam have been shunted to policeline. The IG has also asked DSP Harimohan Shukla to show cause as to why departmental proceedings should not be initiated againt him in the same connection.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had taken serious note of the arrest of minor vegetable vendor and had directed the Zonal IG, Patna, to inquire into the matter and submit a report in two days. Pankaj, who was sent to Beur jail after his arrest, will now be shifted to Remand Home.

IG Khan said that there were many irregularities in the lodging of the FIR against the boy.
