SHO killed, constable injured in encounter with criminals in Khagaria

Patna :  Station House Officer (SHO), Pasraha police station, in Khagaria district Aashish Kumar Singh was killed  while a police constable Durgesh Kumar sustained injury in an encounter with criminals in Salarpur riverine
belt under Parbatta police station in the district late on October 12, 2018, night. Singh was an SI rank officer of 2009 batch. The injured constable was rushed to Bhagalpur for treatment.
Police sources said that Pasraha ps SHO Singh received inputs that a notorious gangster of bordering areas of Nawagachia and Khagaria Dinesh Muni along with his associates had taken shelter in Salarpur riverine belt. Singh with police constables present at the police station reached the place to arrest the gangster.
Sources said that seeing the cops, criminals opened fire at them forcing the cops to retaliate. During the encounter, a bullet hit Singh and he slumped on the ground and died on the spot. On getting information, Khagaria SP, DSP along with SHOs of several police stations rushed to the spot.Aashish Kumar Singh was a native of Saharsa district. According to uncirmed reports, a criminal was also killed in the encounter.
