Patna : World Number 8 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Shi Yuqi, China, the 5th seed, upset World Number 4 Son Wan Ho, South Korea, the 5th seed, in the semi-finals of All England Open Badminton Tournament 2018 at Birmingham, UK, on March 17, 2018. Shi Yuqi defeated Son Wan Ho 21-17, 21-14, in 45 minutes to enter the final of All England Open.

In the Women’s section, World Number 1 and top seed Tai Tzu Ying, Chinese Taipei, defeated World Number 8 Chen Yufei, China, in a three-set thriller 21-15, 20-22, 21-13, to enter the final of All England Open. The match lasted 64 minutes.
