Dhanbad ( Jharkhand) : In a quick operation on late June 27, 2017, night, Dhanbad police took Sher Khan, brother of notorious Fahim Khan (presently lodged at Hazaribagh jail) into their custody and are interrogating him at an undisclosed location in connection with firing on Wasseypur based Pappu Pachak alias Pappu Khan recently.
Pappu is still struggling for his life at Durgapur Mission hospital in Bengal as two bullets are still stuck in his upper abdomen and though doctors have performed two operations to extract the two bullets. Yet another operation will follow soon.
Sher Khan was taken into custody on the basis of an FIR lodged by Shama Parveen, wife of Pappu Khan with Bank Mor police station in which she has named four persons: Fahim Khan, Sher Khan, Iqbal Khan (son of Fahim) and Chiku Khan (nephew of Fahim) holding them responsible for the attack on her husband.
Fearing gang war once again in Wasseypur, Dhanbad SSP R M Chouthey has beefed up security in Dhanbad and deployed more than three dozen cops at Wasseypur and asked the Bank More police station to remain alert. Two Dhanbad cops have been sent to Durgapur Mission hospital for enhancing security of injured Pappu Pacahak admitted there.
On June 27 evening, Sher Khan had convened a presser at his residence in which he denied having his or his family’s role behind the attack Pappu Khan saying that an impartial police inquiry should be carried out into the incident and they were always ready to cooperate with administration. Two hours after the press conference, Sher Khan was taken into police custody and taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
When contacted, Dhanbad SSP R.M Chouthey said that police were interrogating Sher Khan after an FIR was lodged against him. Police were trying to identify persons involved in the shootout.
