Patna : The JD (U) national president and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is likely to take a call on his deputy Tejaswi Yadav, younger son of RJD Chief Lalu Prasad, any day after the presidential poll scheduled for July 17, 2017.

The JD(U) has called a meeting of its legislators ostensibly to discuss the presidential poll but it would also discuss the Tejaswi Yadav issue in the wake of CBI making him one of the accused in the land for hotel scam on July 5, 2017. The CBI had also quizzed Tejaswi and his mother and former CM Rabri Devi, on July 7 besides carrying out a search operation at their residence, 10, Circular Road, Patna. Lalu and Rabri have also been made accused in the land for hotel scam. The ED has already quizzed Lalu’s daughter Dr Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh in a money laundering case.

With Lalu and some of his family members on CBI, IT and ED radars, Nitish is finding is difficult to run his government. The JD(U) wants Tejaswi to resign on his own and come clean on charges  levelled against him by the CBI and IT, which has already sealed 12 properties of the family. But, Lalu has categorically said his son would not resign saying he can’t resign just because the CBI has registered a case against him. The RJD legislators, at a meeting held here on July 10, had appreciated Tejswi’s work as the deputy chief minister.

Both Lalu and Nitish know the consequence of the continuing stand off between the two over the issue. Former JD(U) national president Sharad Yadav on July 16 met AICC president Sonia Gandhi to defuse the crisis. But, Lalu is unlikely to change his stand on Tejaswi issue. The RJD has also called a meeting of its legislators on July 16 to discuss the presidential poll and Tejaswi issue.
