Patna : The President of India Ram Nath Kovind, as advised by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on May 31, 2019,  directed the allocation of portfolios among the members of the Union Council of Ministers. The No 2 in the Union Cabinet Rajnath Singh, who was Home Minister in the previous cabinet, has been allotted Defence portfolio while the No 3 Amit Shah gets Home Affairs. Nitin Gadkari, the No 4, has been allotted  Road Transport and Highways; and Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

D V Sadanands Gowda has been allotted Chemicals and Fertilizers.portfolio while Nirmala Sitharaman gets the important portfolio of Finance and  Corporate Affairs. LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan retains his Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.portfolio. Narendra Singh Tomar has been allotted Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj portfolios. Ravi Shankar Prasad has been allotted Law & Justice, Communications, and Electronics and Information Technology portfolios. Harsimrat Kaur Badal retains her Food Processing Industries portfolio.

Thawar  Chand Gehlot gets Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry while Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar., a retired IFS officer, has been allotted External Affairs.portfolio.Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has been allotted Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry. Arjun Munda gets the portfolio of Tribal Affairs.

Smriti Zubin Irani has been allotted Women and Child Development; and Textiles. portfolios while Dr. Harsh Vardhan has been allotted the portfolios of Health & Family Welfare, Science & Technology, and Earth Sciences. Prakash Javadekar, who was HRD Minister in the previous cabinet, has been allotted Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Information & Broadcasting portfolios.

Piyush Goyal gets Railways, Commerce and Industry while Dharmendra Pradhan gets Petroleum & Natural Gas, and Steel. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi gets Minority Affairs while Pralhad Joshi has been allotted the portfolios of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal, and Mines. Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey has been made Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship..Arvind Ganpat Sawant gets Heavy Industries & Public Enterprise.

Giriraj Singh gets Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries while Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has been made Minister for Jal Shakti.
