Ara: The godown of State Food Corporation (SFC) at Bihia in Bhojpuri district has been sealed following reports of blackmarketing of rice. Police had seized two trucks loaded with rice at Piro about a fortnight ago and during inquiry it was found that the rice was lifted from the SFC, Bihia. Taking serious note of it, Bhojpur DM Birendra Prasad Yadav directed the District Supply Officer, Bimal Kumar, and the District Manager (DM) on October 6 to seal the godown of the State Food Corporation (SFC) at Bihia in connection of blackmarketing of rice.
The officials sealed the godown of the SFC on October 7 evening. These officials called the AGM SFC, Kalawati Kumari, but she did not turn up. At this , the DM formed a three-member committee comprising DSO Bimal Kumar, DM, SFC, Rajendra Prasad and Executive Magistrate, Jagdishpur, Deepak Kumar, asking it to submit its report within a week. The probe team said that if a thorough inquiry is hel, a gang of blackmarketeers will be busted.
Bhojpur police seized the two trucks loaded with rice and a named FIR was lodged with Piro police station against half a dozen persons including two truck drivers and Block Agriculture Officer (BAO), Tarari, cum AGM SFC in this regard. The BAO has been arrested. DM Birendra Prassad Yadav said that black marketing of government rice is a crime and no one will be spared.
