Patna : Six- time champaion and World No 26 in WTA rankings Serena Williams, 36, USA, and World No 19 Naomi Osaka, 20, Japan, will clash in the women’s singles final of US Open Championship on September 9, 2018.

Serena, the winner of 23 Grand Slam singles title, beat World No 18 Anastasija Sevastova, 28, Latvia, 6-3, 6-0 in the semi-finals at ArthurAshe Stadium, Flushing Meadows, New York, on September 7, 2018. Serena won 5 break points to just 1 by Sevastova. She also won 7 games in a row to just 2 by Sevastova. Serena’s winning percentage on both her first and second serve was much better than that of his rival. Sevrena, who won her first US Open title in 1999, incidentally her first Grand Slam title, fired 4 Aces to 1 by Sevastova, who was playing her first Grand Slam semi-finals.

Osaka beat 2017 finalist and 17th seed Madison Keys, 23, USA, 6-2, 6-4 in the semi-finals on September 7, 2018. Osaka, the 20th seed,  won 3 break points to none by Keys, the World No 14. Osaka served 2 Aces to 3 by Keys. Osaka, who was playing in her first Grand Slam semi-finals, won 7 games in a row in the match. Keys had also reached the semi-finals at French Open 2018.
