Ranchi (Jharkhand):  Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) General Secretary and 6th term Congress MLA from Bermo Assembly Constituency in Bokaro District, Jharkhand, Rajendra Prasad  Singh, 75, died at 12.30 noon on May 24, 2020, at a private hospital in New Delhi.

He was suffering from several ailments including lung infection and was rushed to Delhi by an air ambulance on May 2, 2020, after his  conditions deteriorated while under medical treatment at Ranchi. He is survived by his four daughters and two sons. He also served as minister in united Bihar and later when Jharkhand was created he became cabinet minister in  the new state twice  and had held  power and health portfolios. Singh had won the Bermo seat for four consecutive terms starting 1985. He again won the seat in 2009 and then in 2019.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren have mourned Singh, a top labour leader. Soren said that Jharkhand had lost a hard working and ‘Sachha Sevak’.
