Gopalganj : State chief of BJP’ commercial cell Krishna Shahi was poisoned to death on on July 18, night, at village Banswaria Manjha under Phulwaria police station in Gopalganj district. Police recovered the body from a well at village Manjha on July 19 morning. Shahi’s revolver and rifle was also recovered from the well.
Shahi had gone to village Manjha on his Scorpio on July 18 night to attend a `Sharadha’ at the house of Lal Babu Rai but did not return home. After attending the Shradh, Shahi had probably stayed at the house of an acquaintance but disappeared from there. His mobile phone was also found switched off. Saran range DIG Ajit Kumar Rai confirmed the murder of Shahi.
Police detained for interrogation a man and five women, after deceased’s family members suspected their involvement in the murder. Saran SP Ravi Ranjan Kumar said that police had started investigation into the incident. the The BJP leaders while strongly condemning the murder of Shahi said that the incident clearly indicated law and order had completely collapsed Bihar.
Shahi’s supporters attacked the house of Lal Bau Rai but police managed to handle the situation. Shahi was a resident of village Chainpur under Hathua police station in Gopalganj district. According to unconfirmed reports, Shahi was abducted while returning from Manjha and then killed. Senior officials are camping at Manjha with force in view of the tension building up in the area.
