Patna: Unidentified criminals fire on a school van at village Bisurpur on the border of Bihta and Naubatpur police stations in Patna district on July 28, 2018. Incidentally, the van was not carrying school children that time but its driver Umesh Rai sustained serious bullet injuries in the firing.

Police said that Umesh Rai, driver of a private school at Bihta, was returning after dropping the children to the school. When the van reached near village Bisurpur, some criminals, who were  waiting there, fired on Rai, who sustained bullet injury in his head. The injured driver was admitted to Bihta Referal Hospital from where he was referred to Patna. Umesh Rai is a native of village Samanpura under Naubatpur police station. The criminals fired three rounds on him.

Bihta police, on getting information, reached the spot and recovered an empty cartridge from the spot. An FIR has been lodged against three persons based on the statement of Umesh Rai. Naubatpur police station SHO Ramakant Tiwary said that condition of the van driver is stable. He said that raids were on to arrest the accused.
