Patna :World No 16 Sameer Verma, 24, India, and World No 52 Parupalli Kashyap, 32, India, entered the quarter-finals of Syed Modi International Badminton Championship 2018, a HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 event, at Lucknow, I ndia, on November 22, 2018.

Sameer defeated World No 48 Zhao Junpeng, 22, China, 22-20, 21-17 in 39 minutes in the second round. Sameer won 43 rallies rallies in the match to 37 by Junpeng. Sameer won 6 consecutive points while Junpeng won 5 in the match.

Kashyap beat World No 57 Firman Abdul Kholik, 21, Indonesia, in three-games 9-21, 22-20, 21-8 in 57 minutes in the second round. Kashyap won 52 rallies in the match to 49 by Kholik. Kashyap won 6 consecutive points during the match while Kholik won 7 consecutive points. Both the players are locked 1-1 head to head.

World No 28 B Sai Praneeth, 26, India, beat World No 67 Shesar Hiren Rushtavito, 24, Indonesia, 21-12, 21-10 in second round in 29 minutes to enter the QF. Praneeth won 42 rallies in the match to 22 by Rushtavito. Praneeth won 6 consecutive points to 3 by his rival.
