Patna : World No 10 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Saina Nehwal, 28, India, World No 2 Akana Yamaguchi, Japan, World No 8 Nozomi Okuhara, 23, Japan, and World No 9 Sung Ji Hyun, South Korea, entered the second round of BWF Korea Open 2018 being held at Seoul on September 26, 2018.
Saina, the fifth seed, beat World No 39 Kim Hyo Min, South Korea, 21-12, 21-11 in 40 minutes in the first round. Top seed Yamaguchi beat World No 30 Han Yue, China, in three-sets 21-16, 11-21, 21-15 in 46 minute to enter the second round. Okuhara, the third seed and 2017 World Champion, beat World No 33 Lee Chia Hsin, Chinese Taipei, 21-9, 21-8 in 22 minute. Sung Ji Hyun, the 4th seed, beat World No 16 Aya Ohori, Japan, in three-sets 18-21, 21-16, 21-13 in 59 minute.
World No 12 Beiwen Zhang, USA, beat World No 55 Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka, India, 21-10, 21-9 in only 19 minute in the first round.
