Patna : World No 9 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Saina Nehwal, 28, India, former Olympic champion and World No 41 Li Xuerui, China,  World No 27 Han Yue, China, and World  No 62 Russeli Hartawan, Indonesia, on November 23, 2018, entered the semi-finals of Syed Modi International Badminton Championship, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 300 event, at Lucknow, India.

Saina defeated World No 56 Rituparna Das, India, 21-19, 21-14 in 36 minutes in the quarter-finals on  November 23. Saina won 42 rallies in the match to 33 by Das. Saina won 7 consecutive points to 4 by Das. Saina now leads Das 2-0 head to head.

Li Xuerui defeated World No 88 Sai Uttejita Rao Chukka, India, in a three-game encounter 21-9, 19-21, 21-12 in quarter-finals in 56 minutes. Xuerui won 61 rallies in the match to 42 by Chukka. She won 6 consecutive points to 4 by Chukka.

Russeli Hartawan beat World No 46 Zhang Yeman, China, in a three-game thriller 23-21, 11-21, 21-11 in 52 minutes in the quarter-finals. Hartawan won 55 rallies in the match to 53 by Yeman. Both the players won 6 consecutive points each. Hartawan will play Saina in the semi-finals.

Han Yue, the 4th seed, defeated World No 53 Dinar Diya Ayustine, the 6th seed, Indonesia, 21-13, 21-14 in the quarter-finals in 32 minutes. She will play Xuerui in the semi-finals.
