Patna : World No 8 Saina Nehwal, India, tumbled out of Danisa Denmark Open, an HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event, at Odense, Denmark, on October 16, 2019, losing to World No 11 Sayaka Takahashi, 27, Japan, in straight games in the first round.

Takahashi beat 8th seed Saina 21-15, 23-21 in 37 minutes in first round at Odense Sportspark, Denmark. Takahashi won 44 rallies in the match to 36 by Saina. Both the players won 5 consecutive points each in the match. Saina, however, still leads Takahashi 4-2 Head to Head.

World No 1 and 4th seed Tai Tzu Ying, 25, Chinese Taipei, beat World No 25 Nitchaon Jindapol, Thailand, in straight games 21-15, 21-9 in 27 minutes to advance to the second round. Tai Tzu won 42 rallies in the match to 24 by Jindapol. She won 7 consecutive points in the match to 4 by Jindapol. Tai Tzu now leads Jindapol 8-1 Head to Head.

Top seed and World No 2 Akane Yamaguchi, Japan, had lost in the first round on October 15, 2019.
