Patna : World No 8 Saina Nehwal, 29, India, lost to World No 18 Sayaka Takahashi, 27, Japan, in the second round of Toyota Thailand Open on August 1, 2019. Takahashi beat 7th seed Saina 16-21, 21-11, 21-14 in 48 minutes at Indoor Stadium Huamark, Bangkok, Thailand, coming from behind to reach the QFs of the tournament.
Saina won the first game but thereafter Takahashi was unstoppable winning the next two games easily. She won 58 rallies to 46 by Saina. Takahashi won 10 consecutive points during the match to 8 by Saina. Saina, however, still leads Takahashi 4-1 Head to Head.
