Patna : World No 9 Saina Nehwal, 29, India, advanced to the quarter-finals of Badminton Asia Championships 2019 at Wuhan, China, on April 25, 2019, defeating World No 36 Kim Ga Eun, South Korea, in the 2nd round. Saina beat Kim Ga Eun in straight games 21-13, 21-13 in 38 minutes in the second round at Wuhan Sports Center, China.
Saina won 42 rallies in the match to 26 by Eun. She won 5 consecutive points in the match to 3 by Eun. Saina now leads Eun 2-0 head to head.
Top seed and World No 3 Chen Yufei, 21, China, also entered QFs of the tournament defeating World No 16 Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, 19, Indonesia, in a three-game thriller 15-21, 21-14,21-15 in 53 minutes in the 2nd round. Yufei won 57 rallies in the match to 50 by Juntung. Both tbhe players won 6 consecutive points each in the match. Yufei now leads Tunjung 3-1 head to hread.
